Fonts and keyboard layouts for
Windows 95 |
-
You should have any ArmSCII-8
(Armenian State Standard 166-97) compliant font in your system. If you
don't have one, we suggest you downloading
ArTarumianHelvetica and
ArTarumianCourier
from our site. To do this,
-
Save all 5 files shown below to a temporary directory:
ArTarumianHelvetica: Normal,
Bold
ArTarumianCourier: Normal,
Bold.
-
Open Control Panel -- Fonts.
-
Click File -- Install New Font.
-
Go to the temporary directory and click Select All.
-
Click Ok.
-
In order to type in Armenian, in particular while filling in forms, you
need a keyboard driver. You may choose one of freeware keyboard drivers
here.
We prefer working with NLS
for Win95 - National (Armenian) Language Support Installer for Windows
95. If you have KDWin95, don't forget to change system fonts to Armenian
(see documentation for details).

Fonts and keyboard layouts for
Apple Macintosh |
-
Download this
file. It contains ArmNet Times and ArmNet Courier TrueType
fonts, and also 2 keyboard layouts:
standard
computer layout and traditional typewriter layout. Netscape will expand
the Stuffit archive automatically for you.
-
Select all the files and drop them into System Folder.
-
Open Control Panel -- Keyboards.
-
Select US-ArmSCII-8 (computer layout) or US-ArmType-8 (typewriter
layout). Use CapsLock key to switch between English and Armenian
keyboards.
 |
NOTE: The suggested fonts and keyboard layouts for
Mac comply to ArmSCII-8 communication standard, thus they are intended
only for Internet web browsing and mailing. Using this coding standard
for other tasks in MacSystem, (f.ex. word processing or desktop publishing),
may cause problems. |

Common instructions for
Netscape Navigator |
-
Unfortunately Netscape Navigator currently does not support Armenian language,
and we have to use so-called "User Defined" coding:
-
Launch Netscape Navigator.
-
Click Edit -- Preferences.
-
Click Appearance -- Fonts.
-
Choose User Defined in the list of languages.
-
Choose any variable ArmSCII-8 font (for example, ArTarumianHelvetica)
as a Variable Width Font.
-
Choose any fixed ArmSCII-8 font (for example, ArTarumianCourier)
as a Fixed Width Font.
-
Click Ok.
-
While viewing pages containing Armenian, you should click User Defined
item in View -- Encoding menu. In most cases Netscape Communicator
4.x will switch langauge automatically.
